So You Want Your Name In Lights 2020 Summer Camp Music Videos Premier Showing At The Fourth Monthly Workshop/Talent Showcase

December 19, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

ORLANDO, FL –  This Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12 noon, So You Want Your Name In Lights presents the world premiere of music videos BUSY CITY and FRIENDS & HATERS at the Bronze Kingdom Museum located at 6464 International Drive, Orlando, Florida  (next to Bargain Planet). These two original songs were composed, recorded, and performed by our very own Orange County students who attended the 2020 So You Want Your Name In Lights Music Summer Camp.  November Top Performer, Joshua “Demarkus” Bryant will perform virtually due to a non-local prior commitment. Prepare yourself to be amazed. FREE registration for talent showcase participants must be submitted no later than Thursday, December 17.  Applications are available at www.musictomymind.com.

Jonathan ‘D-Lyfe’ Coutrier-Owens joins existing workshop facilitators Frank Taylor (international conductor/trumpeter) and Will Covington (international record producer/Grammy Award-winning drummer and program visionary) for the ongoing discussion “Education – The Ultimate Equalizer”.  During his 10+ years in the music industry, DJ D-Lyfe;s career stretched from the recording studio to radio. D-Lyfe works with various independent and major recording label clients as he provides both sonically and commercially support for the next phase of their careers. D-Lyfe/ Mixed By D started his journey as a DJ in grade school; later following his passion to work in clubs and on various Orlando-based radio stations as a ‘mix-show” DJ.  He is a Full Sail University graduate where he learned the sonics of music production.  Currently, he is lead engineer at NuBreed Studios and an audio production instructor for the Melrose Center located inside the Orange County Public Library/Downtown Orlando Branch.

So You Want Your Name In Lights is a youth mentoring, arts-focused/crime prevention program funded in part by Orange County Government and the United Arts of Central Florida. Using music to engage their interest, this program is designed to provide life and social skills training to under-served youth (ages 12-17) with the aim to build character, self-confidence, self-esteem, leadership, and positive-thinking.  Its 6-weeks summer program offers etiquette, healthy wellness, financial literacy, basic piano, music composition, copyrighting, sound recording, and field trips. On the last day of summer camp, the participants perform songs that they composed.  When the camp ends, monthly mentor teen talk workshops are paired with talent showcases-for-scholarship to give students a year-round experience. Scholarship fundraising is conducted by Florida Songwriters Association, a 501c3 organization.  You are welcome to email your questions to covingtong622@gmail.com or TEXT 321-217-4493.  Check out www.musictomymind.com for further program information.
