Treasurer

Chester Glover recently retired from the U.S. House of Representatives, ending a 25-year public service career. Known as “Chet” for the 16 years before he began a career in public service, he worked in numerous media and media related positions: from a photojournalist at WDBO-TV, now known as WKMG-TV, News 6; to working as a media aide in the successful 1982 re-election campaign of former Florida Governor Bob Graham.

Chester also organized venue press operations at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was a staff writer at the Orlando Sentinel for eight years.

As a long time, devoted member of the National Association of Black Journalists, and a 40-year and charter member of the local affiliate chapter, the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists, Chester enjoys traveling around the country visiting Black museums while attending national and regional conventions.

In 2023 Chester earned NABJ’s Region III prestigious Ma’at Award. Ma’at is an ancient word that refers to concepts of truth, balance, order, harmony, law, morality, and justice. He was nominated for embodying these concepts.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he attended Pershing and Osborne High Schools. After relocating to central Florida in the mid-1970’s, he attended Valencia College, Rollins College, Stetson University and the University of Central Florida. He regularly attends Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and is the proud owner of a vintage 1980 Corvette.
