Alayna Gaines Riggins

Alayna Gaines Riggins is an award-winning communications professional with more than 25 years of writing, editing and content management experience. Her diverse industry background includes working for corporate and government entities, consumer and B2B magazines, and newspapers.
She is currently the manager of Public Relations for Orange County (Fla.) Public Schools, the eighth largest public school district in the nation. In this role, her primary duties include serving as a co-editor of the employee newsletter, and speechwriter for the school board chair, superintendent and other cabinet-level officials.
Previously, Riggins worked for more than a decade in Public Affairs for the Walt Disney World Resort and was Disney’s first African-American editor of a corporate publication.
A native of Washington, D.C., she is a proud graduate of Duke University (BA) and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism (MSJ). Riggins moved to Orlando in 1999 and over the years has served as a former VP of Print and Parliamentarian with CFABJ. Other community affiliations currently include Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc., Altamonte Springs Chapter of The Links, Inc., and Beth TeHillah Ministries.
The loving mother of a teenage son, Riggins enjoys movies; music; traveling; and attending sports events with family and friends.
