Press Release \nFor Immediate Release: \nEatonville\, FL –(January 25\, 2021)The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community (P.E.C.) will launch Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities (ZORA!™ Festival) Community Conversations with Dr. William A. Darity\, Jr. \nHe is the Samuel DuBois Cook Professor of Public Policy\, African and African American Studies\, and Economics at Duke University. This is the first of a three-part virtual series on Race and Economic Realities in 21st Century America is funded in part by the Florida Humanities Council Community Project Grant* awarded to P.E.C. for community programing through December 1\, 2021. \nDr. Darity’s research focuses on inequality by race\, class and ethnicity\, stratification economics\, schooling and the racial achievement gap\, North-South theories of trade and development\, skin shade and labor market outcomes\, the economics of reparations\, the Atlantic slave trade and the Industrial Revolution\, the history of economics and the social psychological effects of exposure and unemployment. His most recent book\, coauthored with A. Kirsten Mullin\, is From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the 21st Century (2020). \nCommunity Conversations was created by The Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community\, (P.E.C.) with the objective to identify tangible ways to contribute to a structured\, long-term discussion on race in 21st century America. \nWHEN:           Tuesday\, January 26\, 2021 at 7:00PM EST \nWHERE:         Virtual Program\, to register for this virtual event or for additional information Community Conversations January 26 – ZORA! Festival \n*Florida Humanities awards grants – known as Community Project Grants – to nonprofit organizations and public institutions across Florida whose projects strengthen vibrant communities and cultures\, promote civic engagement\, spark thoughtful community dialogue\, and reflect on the human experience across the Sunshine State. These grants are designed to support a vast array of projects. \nABOUT ZORA!™ FESTIVAL\nFirst presented in 1990 by the Association to Preserve the Eatonville Community\, Inc. (P.E.C.)\, a historic preservation and cultural arts organization\, ZORA! Festival is a multi-day\, multi-disciplinary\, intergenerational event composed of public talks\, museum exhibitions\, theatrical productions\, and arts education programming\, which historically culminates in a 3-day Outdoor Festival of the Arts. This year\, the festival will be a monthlong amalgam of virtual and in-person events primarily in Eatonville\, (10 miles north of Orlando) and throughout Orange County. The ZORA! Festival 2021\, January 7 – January 30\, 2021 marks the 32nd year of this internationally recognized\, award-winning event. The ZORA!
