Serving Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, & Lake Counties
I am honored to serve as the newest president of the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists (CFABJ). As a relative newcomer to Central Florida, I continue to be impressed with the accomplishments of African American journalists, media and public relations professionals, communication students and educators in our region. CFABJ is truly our organization. Together, we can accomplish great things in support of our membership and the communities that we serve.
To that end, we recently launched the 2015 CFABJ Membership survey to gain feedback on the types of activities and initiatives that members would like to see CFABJ involved in during the coming year. We are asking past, present, and prospective members to complete the survey and take an active role in helping CFABJ fulfill a progressive agenda going forward as we endeavor to reimagine what it means to be an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists in our ever changing media and cultural landscapes.
If you have not completed the survey, I invite you to do so here. The survey will be open until July 18. Your feedback is vital and appreciated. Please be sure that your input is included! Soon we will share the results of our survey and begin using those results to craft a plan for growing and sustaining our organization.
If you are a journalism, media or public relations professional, or a student or educator in the communications field in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, or Lake Counties, I invite you to become a member of CFABJ. In order to expand our reach and capacity to serve, we need to continue to grow our membership in all membership categories. CFABJ has a long history of supporting media professionals in Central Florida and we look forward to building on that history with renewed energy and focus. Please stay connected with us on Facebook, Twitter, via cfabj.org and at our monthly meetings. Come and be a part of something special!
All the best,
LaFontaine E. Oliver
