The following represent brief/broad descriptions. It is not intended, nor should it be construed, to represent a comprehensive and /or exhaustive description of all duties/responsibilities and requisite skills associated with the position.

ENGINEERING/OPERATIONS

MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Repair and maintain broadcast television equipment including news, program and commercial servers and automation systems. Install new equipment and troubleshoot problem areas. Computer literacy and experience with the installation and repair of file servers is required. ¬†Associate degree in IT systems, electronics or an equivalent amount of technical training is desired. A minimum of three years’ experience with master control and production automation systems is strongly preferred.

Experience in maintenance and repair of broadcast television equipment is a plus. Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team and be adaptable to changing priorities.

BROADCAST TECHNICIAN (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Assure that all elements of on-air presentation are of the highest quality. Work in a team environment during fast-paced, high-pressure newcasts. Duties include: Operate microwave and satellite equipment; operate and monitor remote transmitter; tune satellite receivers to record programs for air; spot check for quality; tune in and troubleshoot local area microwave liveshots; switch on-air programming; operate iTX automation system; perform duties as Co-Pilot in a Sony ELC environment; operate News audio console: adjust Vinten robotic studio cameras; edit promotional bag and tags for a three station environment. College degree in broadcasting or related field or two years’ experience in the broadcast industry. Experience in the master control and news environment preferred. Working knowledge of satellite and microwave communications. Broadcast automation experience for both News and Master Control. Strong people skills. Must be a team player. Ability and willingness to work any shift including weekends and holidays a must.

PROGRAMMING

PROGRAMMING ASST/ADMIN ASST – VP/GM (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Assist with all aspects of station programming and reporting including program orders and schedules. Ensure compliance with FCC reporting and Closed Captioning processes. Maintenance of Public File. Respond to viewer calls and staff requests. Provide administrative support to the VP/GM to include phones, calendar, travel arrangements, preparation of correspondence, spreadsheets, monthly reports, and greeting guests. Consistently demonstrate professionalism, strong attention to detail, follow-up, discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential information. Understanding of FCC requirements and importance of compliance. Accurate keyboard skills and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Wide Orbit experience is a plus. Attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task and work independently in a fast paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of programming and experience as Admin Assistant is a plus. A minimum of two years’ experience in a television station is preferred.

NEWS

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Write stories for news programs. Select appropriate video and sound for stories. Assist anchors, reporters and producers in preparing stories for broadcast and the web. Work with the assignment desk in gathering information. Produce newscasts as needed under management supervision. Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are a must. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, ENG & SNG remotes is desirable. Must work well under deadline pressure. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism or equivalent job experience is preferred.

ASSIGNMENT EDITOR (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. Make beat check calls to law enforcement and other governmental agencies. Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity in coverage. Coordinate coverage of special events. Write, edit and post stories on the station’s website and social media platforms; on-air, on-line, in-mobile and social. A minimum of two years’ experience in TV news, including assignment desk experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be able to work well in a fast paced environment. Overtime, holidays and varied hours required.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Management of the editorial content and staff for assigned newscasts, along with the website and social media platforms. Must demonstrate solid news judgment and creative writing and producing skills. Must be a leader with the ability to supervise and work with anchors, reporters, editors, producers and production crew to produce winning newscasts with clean on-air look. Decisive, authoritative leader with strong communication skills and the ability to build a strong team environment. Must be able to integrate social media with broadcast television. At least three years’ experience working in a TV newsroom as a major market producer or smaller market news manager. Must be flexible and able to handle pressure and meet deadlines.

PHOTOGRAPHER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Shoots and edits video and audio for newscasts, news programming, promotion and other station related purposes. Operates ENG vehicles and equipment. Self-motivated, creative storyteller with strong photography and editing skills and a full understanding of live truck operations. Working knowledge of: P-2 camera systems and AVID edit systems, Dejero backpacks, lighting and sound equipment, and newsroom computer systems considered a plus. At least 2 years ‘experience as a photographer/editor in a television ne\\’s department is preferred. Willingness and ability to travel for story assignments. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.

SENIOR WEEKEND PRODUCER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Weekends: Oversee editorial content and meet strategic goals for assigned newscasts, Demonstrate solid news judgment. Ensure newscasts are created with impact by including stories and teases written creatively and effectively. Research and present compelling story ideas. Integrate new digital media (web. social media) with broadcast television. Week days: Plan coverage and produce content for newscasts. Lead planning/coverage efforts for local sports content and programming, Work closely with executive producers, producers and reporters to ensure that stories are enterprised and accommodated in newscasts. Research story ideas, book guests, conduct interviews, and produce stories & segments for the newscasts. Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are a must. Ability to lead decisively and contribute to the development of a strong team environment. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, ENG & SNG remotes is desirable. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism. Prior experience in a television news department producing newscasts, Must work well under deadline pressure during breaking news.

NEWS

Research and present compelling story ideas at daily editorial meetings. Utilize social media tools to engage and attract viewers. Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are a must. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment, ENG & SNG remotes is desirable. College degree in an applicable discipline such as broadcast journalism. Prior experience in a television news department producing newscasts. Must work well under deadline pressure during breaking news.

REPORTER (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Use creativity, unique style, originality, innovation, discretion and good news judgment to enterprise, prepare and disseminate news stories in newscasts, during live reports and on the website. Find local information in an innovative way. Cultivate and maintain contacts and evaluate leads/tips to develop story ideas. Utilize sources to develop substantive news stories. Write creatively and accurately to video. Provide live coverage of breaking events. Take initiative and be a leader in the newsroom. A minimum of two years’ experience preferred. Good news judgment and knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices. Ability to tell stories and ad-lib effectively. Strong writing skills and thorough knowledge of current events; must be a team player. Working knowledge of newsroom computers.

SALES

WOFL/WRBW ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Regular Full Time / Orlando): Develop understanding of FOX35 and MY65’s product. Market the stations to the advertising community. Produce and present effective sales strategies to existing and developed accounts that solve client problems and increase station revenues. Develop relationships with developmental retail clients, existing TV advertisers and their agencies. College degree and a minimum of one year work experience preferred. Candidate should possess top communication skills and be service oriented. Experience with new business development preferred. Knowledge of Scarborough, NSI, Wide Orbit, TV Scan and general computer skills a plus. Must have valid driver’s license.

WOGX ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Regular Full Time / Gainesville): Develop understanding of FOX5I’s product. Market the station to the advertising community. Produce and present effective sales strategies to existing and developed accounts that solve client problems and increase station revenues.
